Railway Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) Center

The Centralized Traffic Control with Color Light Signalling was introduced to the Suburban Section of Sri Lanka Railways in 1962 and this CTC Center too was set up in 1962. Originally the system was based in Relays (RCTC). Then, the system underwent several technological changes including Electronic CTC in 1985 and Computerized CTC in 2007. At present, there are 06 train controller positions and the CTC center handles about 290 trains daily. It is considered as the heart of the train operation of Sri Lanka.
